3,000 managers attend Digital Kindergarten

Event in Millerntorstadion grows with its concept of hands-on digitalization. Among the special guests: Mats Hummels and Nico Rosberg

The mix of digital experience and keynotes at the recently-ended Digital Kindergarten (June 6, 2019) proved a hit in Hamburg’s St. Pauli Millerntor Stadium. Almost 3,000 visitors toyed with digital innovations at 60 stands. Fifty speakers from across the digital economy gave keynotes on three stages. A presentation by Silent Disco was particularly innovative and listeners wearing headphones could switch between two events without having to leave the square.

Top calibre conference

Lars Klingbeil, Secretary General of the SPD party, opened the round of high-calibre speakers and praised the Digital Kindergarten’s positive outlook on the future and called for more commitment to digitisation in Germany. The 2016 Formula One World Champion and investor, Nico Rosberg, described his experiences in China and warned that Europe risks losing its digital connection. Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, came out in favour of digitalization after being introduced by Cathy Hummels, wife of FC Bayern-Kicker Mats Hummels.

Dominant VR theme

Virtual reality was omnipresent in the stadium’s ballroom. Visitors availed of many headsets to glimpse artificial worlds. A hands-on table football table was also available and players donned headsets to see an animated field. The headsets provided by VRtualX revealed new dimensions in combination with smells. The experience became more intense the closer players came to a virtual flower. Practical demonstrations by the Otto-Group allowed visitors to furnish their living rooms virtually. ma/kk/pb
