IBA Hamburg GmbH and the S+K car dealership in Neu Wulmstorf have launched a car sharing project on the outskirts of Hamburg. Four electric cars, which can be booked per app, are now available in the Vogelkamp Neugraben and Fischbeker Heidbrook construction areas owing to the city’s climate protection funds.
Electric cars with a range of up to 250 kilometres
Most car-sharing providers limit their services to inner cities. IBA’s services foresee parking spaces near public transport and a range of 250 kilometres. The e-fleet can also be used for excursions and short trips: “We are creating an important addition here for a sustainable yet mobile life on the outskirts of Hamburg,” said Karen Pein, Managing Director of IBA Hamburg.
E-mobility increasing in Hamburg
Electric cars should help reduce everyday CO2 emissions in the metropolitan region. Plans are being laid to expand existing e-mobility services such as the MOIA ride sharing service, the e-bus fleet or electrically powered scooters for use on the “last mile” and beyond the city centre.
